To shun the rumors of death of smart fridge, Whirlpool has unveiled its French Door Smart Refrigerator at CES 2016. The smart fridge with re-imagined interiors is designed to optimize storage and offer compatibility with Nest Learning Thermostat.Filled with improved interiors, the 32-cubic-feet model is compartmentalized to offer better grocery storage, while the pantry-inspired layout offers place for every item. It yields up to 30-percent more usable space and its modular shelves can slide and flip out as per requirement. On activating the Party Mode, it fills ice bucket faster and also brings temperature down in anticipation of repeated openings. Claiming to be an ultimate fridge, the real review will be given by customers in the coming few months. Whirlpool French Door Smart Refrigerator will be available in US for nearly $3,800 by this May.
Serious backlash brews against Samsung's insane smart refrigerator
Samsung became the laughingstock of CES overnight after the company released photos of its newest refrigerator.
There are four doors on the "smart" fridge.
And on the front of the top right door, Samsung has placed a huge touchscreen display that looks like a giant smartphone.
Images of the appliance circulated on social media late Sunday, followed quickly by jokes about its design and utility.
Among its harshest critics was the Internet of S---, a Twitter account created to parody IoT (Internet of Things) devices.
The "Family Hub refrigerator" has a 21.5-inch HD screen, and you can use it to browse the Web, write notes, play music and even shop. The fridge comes equipped with Internet-connected cameras that can let you view what's inside without opening the doors.
Samsung hasn't yet said how much the fridge will sell for, but existing refrigerators that look similar in design range in price from $4,000 to $6,000. The company also currently sells a fridge with an eight-inch Wi-Fi connected LCD panel that costs about $3,600.
Refrigerators that can go online have been around for well over a decade. But many people still find the cost of the appliances to be too high to justify the limited use cases.
Mac development for Oculus Rift VR headset 'paused' ahead of early 2016 Windows launch
Although Oculus VR is going ahead with a Windows launch of its Rift headset in the first quarter of 2016, work on OS X and Linux support has been "paused," according to the company's chief architect and technical director on the project.
Oculus wants to focus on a "high quality consumer-level VR experience at launch across hardware, software, and content on Windows," Atman Binstock said in an official blog post on Friday. "We want to get back to development for OS X and Linux but we don't have a timeline."
With technology finally able to keep up, virtual reality is in the middle of a resurgence. Several major companies have announced or already launched VR headsets, including Sony, Samsung, and HTC. The Oculus Rift may be the most anticpated model however, since developer prototypes have been available for some time and are already supported by a handful of games.
Oculus also has the financial backing of Facebook, which bought it for $2 billion in cash and stock in March 2014.
The final shipping version of the Rift will display a 2160x1200, 90Hz image across two eyepieces. Binstock noted that maintaining this quality at high framerates is extremely demanding, and so Oculus has set out equally high recommended system specifications. These include the equivalent of a 3.3 gigahertz Intel i5-4590 processor, an NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD 290 graphics card, and 8 gigabytes of RAM.
At a minimum users will need a PC with Windows 7 Service Pack 1, two USB 3.0 ports, and an HDMI 1.3 port allowing a 297-megahertz clock via direct output. The last point may prevent many notebooks from connecting to the Rift, since even systems with separate graphics cards often push their external output through a graphics chip embedded in the CPU.
The issue may be moot, given that very few mobile graphics cards have enough power to support the Rift. That means that few current-generation Macs will be able to support the headset — even the 5K iMac, which starts at $2,499, uses either an AMD M290X or M295X mobile graphics card. The Mac Pro should in theory have no problems, but starts at $2,999 before adding basic accessories like a mouse, keyboard, or monitor.

Whether playing as Chief or Locke, you're accompanied by a fireteam of 3 A.I. which you can command/issue orders to in the campaign
Highlighting an enemy and hitting up on the D-Pad orders your team to assault an enemy

AI teammates can revive you as well
Confirmed: Linda, Kelly, and Fred join the Chief
Game starts out before Chief is on the run
Audio has been heavily reworked from the ground up for Xbox One (bullet sounds, debris, etc)
8 months after Halo 4 ends, cataclysmic events are tearing apart star systems, these are tied to the Guardians (Forerunner entities shown in the first teaser trailer)
Game Informer played the second mission, taking command of Chief and Blue Team to take back an ONI research vessel abandoned for 2 years
Locke's team is described as having more advanced tech than Blue Team, members use the "ATS" (Artermis Tracking System) on their armor to bring out points of interests in levels

XBL Gold is not required for online co-op.
Halo 5 will launch with over 20 multiplayer maps
15 DLC maps by June 2016
All maps will be free
Teases a "completely new, epic multiplayer experience" they'll reveal at E3. Incorporates "all aspects of the Halo sandbox for the first time ever"
This MP experience is described as a "dream of ours and all our fans to build something like this"
On the gameplay side, it is interesting to note that for the first time ever Halo 5: Guardians will have multiplayer DLC completely free to download, and that online co-op will be available for those who don't own a Xbox Live Gold subscription – that's a great move from Microsoft.
On the other hand, the four-team gameplay seems to have been inspired by Halo Reach, and this could only be a pro for the next episode in the long running shooting series.
What's your take on this? Share it in the comments section below and don't forget to follow Microsoft's E3 2015 press conference on June 15.
Those annoying hoverboards will be legal in California from 2016
You know those things that everyone is calling hoverboards, that are actually just sideways skateboards with electric wheels? Turns out they’re now legal to use in California, just as London police remind people they’re banned from use in public.
Spotted by The Guardian, a new Californian law will allow the use of “electrically motorised boards” from January 2016, which reverses a ban first put into place in 1970s.
The boards must be slower than 20 miles per hour, and only carry a single person. They will, however, allow them to be driven on public roads, provided the rider is wearing a helmet and is not drunk.
The bill specifically targets electric skateboards, but also allows ‘hoverboards’ under its broad description, however it specifically says such boards must not be powered by fuel.
Are you ready for the future of annoying tech guys riding hoverboards all over your street, California? I hope you’re proud of yourselves… although, the fad may well be over by January 2016.
